If you encounter a math question on SAT test which you don’t know how to solve it, read the problem carefully, eliminate choices which seem to be illogical and make guess from among the remaining answer choices. In fact, you try to solve math question without solving it. Now we illustrate how this SAT MATH Strategy works.

**Example 1**

** **

** **

The average of 3, 7, 11 and *x* is 15. What is *x?*

(A) 12 (B) 13 (C) 14 (D) 19 (E) 39

** Solution**

Average of four numbers is 15. All given numbers are less than average, so *x* must be greater than average (15). Eliminate all answer choices (A), (B), (C) and (D) which are less than 15. Hence choice (E) is the answer.
